Beacham McDougald attended East Carolina University, St. Andrews Presbyterian College and Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science. He has been employed with McDougald Funeral Home since 1973.

In 1980 he married the former Lynn Hannah. They are the parents of Hannah and Elizabeth.

He is an active member of the First United Methodist Church, a charter board member of Hospice of Scotland County, a former member of the Scotland County Board of Education, past president of the Laurinburg Rotary Club, and currently serves as the vice-chair of the Scotland County Highland Games, on the Scotland County Historic Properties Commission, on the Scotland County Tourism Development Authority, and is the founder and liaison of the Scotland High School - Oban High School student exchange program.

Lynn Hannah McDougald is a Licensed Funeral Director and the Secretary-Treasurer of McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium. She is a native of Anson County, NC but grew up in Laurinburg, graduating from Scotland High School and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught primary grades in the Scotland County Schools for 20 years.
She is the mother of two: Hannah and Elizabeth (Lizi,) and is a member of the Chancel Choir at the First United Methodist Church.

Fronie has completed mortuary college and will get her Funeral Service license in the spring.
