Mrs. Annie Laurie Maddox Smith, 95, passed away at First Health Moore Regional on Friday, February 24, 2017. 

She was born March 23, 1921 in Scotland County to the late Walter and Cora Beasley Maddox . 

Annie Laurie was raised in the Central United Methodist Church.  After her marriage to the late Thomas J. Smith, she joined the First Baptist Church where she was a member of the senior group and a choir member. In the early part of her career, Annie Laurie was the first lady teller at the State Bank.  She also was the former owner and operator of the Heritage House Florist. 

She leaves behind to cherish her memory nieces, Pat Maddox Culp (John) of Charlotte,  Judy Maddox Lee (Billy) of Rock Hill, SC; great nieces, Dr. Laurie Culp (Dr. Joey Pate) of Decatur, GA, Heather Michelle Lee of Charlotte, Courtney Lee of Wilmington; nephew, Chris Culp of Atlanta, GA; and great-great nieces, Haley Pate, Maddy Pate, and Sophia Lee.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Ishmael and Ed; and sister, Emma Neal.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at McDougald Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Wayne Wike and Dr. Drag Kimery.  Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery.  The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. 

Memorials in Annie Laurie’s honor are suggested to First Baptist Church, PO Box 883, Laurinburg, N.C. 28353.
