Callie Elizabeth Newton Hockman, 29, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, in Raleigh, NC. 

Callie was born on August 7, 1988, in Hartsville, SC, and grew up in Wagram, NC.  The eldest daughter of Calvin and Beth Newton of Wagram, she is survived by her parents, her sisters Jessi and Cori Newton, her best friend/brother, Brock Blanks, and her beloved dachshund, Wilhemina Faye.

Callie was a 2006 graduate of Scotland High School and received her undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in criminology from NC State University in 2010. An accomplished actress, artist, and singer, audiences enjoyed her outstanding performances in a variety of theater productions. She loved music, reading, photography, hiking, camping, traveling, and time with friends and family. Callie worked as an office manager for a local Raleigh company for 8 years. A smart and talented young lady with a beautiful smile, Callie will be missed by all who knew her and her memory will be cherished by her family and her friends.

A graveside service is planned for Saturday, September 9, at 11 a.m. in the McNeill Family Cemetery in Wagram, NC, N. Turnpike Road/Fairley Ray Road followed by visitation at the home of Beth and Cal Newton.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Ira Ray Newton Scholarship Fund, Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church, 15301 McFarland Road, Laurinburg, North Carolina, 28352 (SECYOLHPC@ESC wireless.com.
