Dwight Hasty, born April 24, 1935, was a son of the late Shelton Monroe Hasty Sr. and Vera Wofford Hasty of Laurinburg, NC. He was pre-deceased by his wife Doris Glen Hasty and his son Dwight Wofford Hasty Jr. (Sande).
He was a 1953 graduate of Laurinburg High. He majored in textiles at NC State and graduated in1957. He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball in high school, and as an adult he enjoyed golf, the beach, and he loved reading. He retired from Unifi Corporation in Greensboro, NC as a Sales representative.
Dwight resided at Holden Beach, NC and is survived by his wife Cathy Hasty, son Marc Hasty of North Myrtle Beach, SC, son Tim and wife Beverly Hasty of Texas and daughter Stephanie and husband Randall Lee of High Point, NC, brothers Gene Hasty and his wife Paula Hasty of Laurinburg, NC, Cecil Hasty and wife Misty Hasty of Merrit Island, FL, his grandchildren Brittany Lee, Courtney Lee, Tiffany Hasty Dickens, Shea Hasty and Carrie Wilks, his great grandchildren Alexa Davis, Avery Davis, Trent Dickens, Maci Dickens, and Bentley Dickens.
Memories of Dwight could go on forever, but they wouldn't be complete without mentioning his children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. The three brothers were the very best of friends and they had fun times when they got together and enjoyed talking on the phone. The legacy of Dwight’s kind spirit, passion for sports, love of reading, and zest for life will live on through them.
A memorial service will be at 3:00 pm Saturday, August 26, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Laurinburg, officiated by the Rev. Terry Hunt. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow the service at Hillside Cemetery.
